Our Philosophy and Mission
AAPINA serves as the unified voice for Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) nurses worldwide. AAPINA strives to positively affect the health and well-being of AAPIs and their communities by:
- supporting AAPI nurses and nursing students around the world through research, practice, and education.
- facilitating and promoting networking and collaborative partnerships; and
- influencing health policy through individual and community actions.
Our Goals:
Unify and support AAPINA nurses in Texas
- to facilitate and promote networking and develop collaborative partnerships between professional nurses, nurse researchers, nurse educators, advanced practice nurses, and nursing students and community partners in Texas with the sole purpose of identifying the healthcare needs of AAPIs and optimizing resources, to promote healthy living and better their lives.
- Be the leaders in patient care, research, education, and prevention in their respective communities
Our Objectives:
- To network and address the health care and nursing concerns of AAPI nurses in the United States, its territories, and in other countries
- To identify the health care needs of AAPIs.
- To formulate and implement strategies to act on issues, legislation, and public policies affecting the health of AAPIs.
- To collaborate with other health and professional organizations that support the mission of AAPINA.
- To promote the professional development of members through training and education.
Our Strategic Plans:
- Facilitate and promote networking and collaborative partnerships with AAPI nurses, nurse researchers, nurse educators, advanced practice nurses, nursing students, and other organizations who serve the AAPI population and mentorship programs for scholarship and career leadership advancement.
- Identifying AAPI community needs through research, education, and practice.
- Creating opportunities for serving the AAPI community by getting involved in community health fairs to provide health screening and community health education.
- Advocate and raise awareness of the health issues pertinent to APPIs through the presentations and publications of related research works in various scholarly venues.
- Active engagement in training future nursing scholars by providing mentorship and opportunities to participate in research projects involving APPIs.
- Influencing health policy through individual and community actions.
- Promoting the professional development of members.
The AAPINA Texas chapter aims to unite and support AAPINA nurses in Texas. We strive to promote networking and collaborative partnerships among professional nurses, researchers, educators, advanced practice nurses, nursing students, and community partners in Texas. Their main goal is to identify the healthcare needs of AAPIs, optimize resources, and improve their lives by promoting healthy living. Additionally, they aim to be leaders in patient care, research, education, and prevention in their respective communities.
To achieve these goals, the AAPINA Texas chapter has devised strategic plans. Firstly, they plan to facilitate networking and collaboration among AAPI nurses, researchers, educators, advanced practice nurses, nursing students, and other organizations. This includes mentorship programs for scholarship and career leadership advancement. Secondly, they aim to identify AAPI community needs through research, education, and practice. Thirdly, they plan to create opportunities for serving the AAPI community by participating in community health fairs, providing health screening, and providing community health education. Fourthly, they will advocate and raise awareness of health issues pertinent to AAPIs through presentations and publications in various scholarly venues. Fifthly, they aim to actively engage in the training of future nursing scholars by providing mentorship and opportunities to participate in research projects involving AAPIs. Sixthly, they plan to influence health policy through individual and community actions. Lastly, they aim to promote the professional development of members.
President Role: Annually, chapter presidents report the progress of their membership and activities (e.g., membership, community outreach, project initiatives, etc.) at the annual AAPINA conference’s general membership meeting
Membership:
Chapter membership is open to nurses, nursing students, and non-nursing healthcare professionals (e.g., social work, public health) who support the mission of AAPINA.
We invite you to join the Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA). Membership is currently open to anyone who supports the objectives of the Association.
Membership Fees:
There is no membership fee to join the AAPINA of Texas chapter. However, membership in joining the National AAPINA organization is recommended.
