Affiliation to National Coalition of Ethnic Minority Nurse Associations (NCEMNA)

NCEMNA is a unified force advocating for equity and justice in nursing and health care for ethnic minority populations. The Asian American / Pacific Islander Nurses is a proud affiliate of NCEMNA.

History

On January, 1992 in Washington, D.C., 100 minority nurses were invited to the First Invitational Congress of Minority Nurse Leaders sponsored by the Division of Nursing, Office of Minority Health, and the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service.  At this meeting, the Asian American Pacific Islander nurses met and formed a new national organization, Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association (AAPINA).
