AAPINA Conference and Hurricane Florence

Many of our colleagues and their families are from North Carolina and neighboring states. We hope and pray for their safety and hope you will do the same for them. We are also sending our heart felt thoughts and prayers to everyone who are impacted by the hurricane.

Hurricane Florence has landed on the North Carolina coast today and some parts of the state will have a direct hit on Friday. As you have heard, this is a serious storm with significant risk of flooding and wind, even after the hurricane hits the NC coast.  Although not all parts of the state will be affected, please stay alert and be very careful. Your safety is our utmost priority.

The Durham, NC area has not been directly hit by the storm. Currently, we do not expect any cancellation. Our 15th Annual AAPINA Conference will be held as scheduled, September 22-23, 2018 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Durham Southpoint, NC. The Program and Executive Committees are aware of the potential impact of Florence in the Durham area. We expect to see rain and windy conditions. For our conference attendees, we understand the travel arrangements that may be affected by the storm. Please continue to monitor the weather forecast.

If you are traveling outside NC and arriving at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), please check the “Raleigh-Durham Weather Impacts” to find out the latest information on Hurricane Florence at https://www.rdu.com/weather/  Others, please check and confirm your specific flight with your airline. Please be careful and stay safe. Take care.  We hope to see you there.
